In most cases, your car won’t start because of a dead battery. Dead batteries can be a result of:
- Headlights or dome light being left on
- Loose wiring
- Bad battery
If all of the electrical components of your car aren’t working, your battery may be the issue.
Defective Ignition Switch
If you turn your key and your car won’t start, it could be a defective ignition switch. However, to rule out that it is a battery issue turn on your headlights. If they turn on, you might have a problem with your ignition switch and it’s time to call for auto repair!
A faulty starter could be causing your car not to start if:
- You turn your ignition key and your car won’t start
- You hear a clicking sound when you turn your key
- Your car is noisier than normal when you turn it on
Clogged Fuel Filter
A clogged filter can make turning on your car impossible — if gas can’t reach the engine then your car won’t start. If it’s been a while since you cleaned or replaced your fuel filters and your car isn’t starting it is time to do so!
Empty Gas Tank
If your car won’t start, before you panic and assume your car might be in bigger trouble, check your gas gauge. More often than not, many find their car won’t start because they forgot to stop and fill up their tank.
